GRACE to wait

Wait.  One of the most hated words in the modern english language.

No one really likes to wait do they? I know that I sure don’t. Actually, there are few things in this world that I like less than waiting. Time seems to go slower when you’re waiting. One minute flies by in normal time but not in waiting time. It’s almost as if they are two different types of time! Have you ever stood in front of a microwave for two minutes? It feels like you’re standing there for 20 minutes!

And yet, I’ve learned something about life. Especially a life lived in faith.

It’s full of waiting.

The person who is no stranger to faith will not be a stranger to waiting.

Over and over again, through His word, God encourages us to wait. To wait for Him. To wait on Him. To wait for His goodness. To wait for the amazing things He has planned for our life to explode into reality. To wait for the perfect timing of God come to pass.

There is an appointed TIME that God has set in history for what is in your heart to come about. But you will probably have to wait. Maybe you’ve been waiting for what seems like forever already. Guess what? You might have to wait some more.

But can I give you some encouraging news? You don’t have to wait alone or in your own ability. God never asks us to do something He hasn’t first empowered us to do.

God gives us grace to wait.

So as you wait let your waiting be on God who has promised us amazing things. As you wait let it be on the One who is faithful to do more than you can imagine. When it gets hard remember He is empowering you to not just wait but to become all that you need to be AS YOU WAIT. Your waiting is not in vain.

The same grace that helps you wait patiently is transforming your life.

Psalm 40:1-3

40 I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry.2 He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps.3 He has put a new song in my mouth— Praise to our God; Many will see it and fear, And will trust in the Lord.
