Pressing through into the new

I love new things.

Come on, who doesn’t right? I love getting new stuff. I love visiting new places. I love new music. I love when fresh new things are happening and i’m bored when they are not. I seem to be wired for new and fresh stuff and my guess is that most of you would feel the same way about life.

New things rock. New things keep us going, hoping, caring, and excited. The fact is, I think God wired us to crave new stuff!

Now before you began to think every single desire you have for a new TV, car, pair of pants, or whatever, is strait from heaven I want to be clear… I think God wired us with a “new’ craving. However, I think this craving is an embedded hunger for a new gaze at Jesus and a new taste at what He has purposed for your life.

God is a God of NEW THINGS. He always has been and always will be! I love these passages that speak to God’s focus on the new.

Isaiah 43:19See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?….

2 Cor 5:17: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

Rev 21:5: He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!”

God is never static! He is always doing something new and wonderful that we get to be apart of. He is always carrying His purpose into a new phase. It brings fulfillment to the life of a person in relationship with Jesus when we are seeing and experiencing new things about God and His purpose for our lives.

I never get tired of following Jesus because as I walk with Him I am always experiencing something new about Him.

But let me ask you this….. What Happens when we stop? What happens when seemingly nothing is happening? When everything seems to be stale and old? When new and exciting seems to be out of reach for you? When doubt sets in?   Have you ever been here? Are you here now?

Listen in between where you are and where God is leading you is TIMES OF CHALLENGE. Have you ever walked down the hallways of challenge? Where your faith, sight, heart, life, seem to be challenged?

Im not saying you will experience something terrible! I don’t believe thats God’s heart for you…(doom and gloomers bother me a little) but I am saying that in between the old and the new… you will experience challenge to areas of your life. And challenge… will bring depth to your life!

What is unchallenged remains shallow! What is untested cannot be trusted. God wants is to bring depth and authority to your life and cause your roots and your faith to GROW DEEPER.

If your here I want to encourage you… Don’t become discouraged but PRESS THROUGH.

Don’t give up in the challenge.… But seek and trust Jesus at another level!

Don’t give up because of the recent past… Reach forward into your powerful future!

Your closer than you have ever been to something new and wonderful in God! Don’t you dare give up now!

Look how the apostle Paul handled the challenge…

Philippians 3:12-14...12 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

As The apostle Paul waited “for those (new) things that are ahead”.. He kept pressing and reaching forward!

Friends… something new and wonderful is waiting for you in Christ Jesus. Press! Reach!

Your almost there.  And man how we are wired to love the new things that God has in store for us who love Him.

Lots of Love – Pastor J
