The Process

Colossians 2:7 (NLT) 7 Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.

My son got a kit that we could use to assemble a small tank and grow a chinese fly trap plant inside of it. He thinks fly trap plants are cool for obvious reasons. I mean, what other plant has massive teeth and eats living bugs for breakfast?

However, it had been cold so we kept it away until spring. He reminded me of the plant and wanted to get that thing going. Yesterday we pulled it out and started to follow the directions to assemble the kit and plant the seed. As I read the instructions I was blown away by how long the seeds they provide were going to take to germinate and produce the epic plant we were hoping for! And…. we were hoping for soon!

According to our kit…. it could take 1-3 months just for  the seed to begin growing roots that would EVENTUALLY sprout into the plant we desired to have.

Then I remembered something….. this is also the way of the kingdom of God.

The fly trap SEED is not a fly trap PLANT but it could become one if given enough time.

What do we deal with first, the SEED or the PLANT?  THE SEED.

What must be in place first, the ROOT or the PLANT? THE ROOT.

There is a process that everything goes through to become what it was made to be.

The process does not diminish the potential of the thing…. it actually extracts it!

Don’t miss that! It’s the “process” that extracts from the seed… the potential of the thing!

Embrace the process…. knowing that it only extracts the potential from within you.

I leave you with this!

Philippians 1:6 (NLT)

6 And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.
